Sportsbook.com & PlayersOnly Poker Change Poker Networks

If you’ve ever played on the Sportsbook.com or PlayersOnly poker room then you’ll know that they run on the Cake Poker Network right now. They’ve been running on the Cake Poker Network since opening the two poker rooms, but they’ve just announced that they will be moving over to the Merge Gaming Network. Sportsbook.com also owns PlayersOnly which is why they’re both leaving the Cake Poker Network.

There hasn’t been a date set for when the two poker rooms plan on moving, but by the looks of things it should be within the next two months or so. Both of these poker rooms receive most of their traffic from overflow in their sportsbook which is their main business. I’m sure they we’re receiving some extra players from being on the Cake Poker Network, but by moving over to the Merge Gaming Network they’ll be dealing with a lot less traffic.

The poker rooms on the Merge Gaming Network have about ten times less traffic then the Cake Poker Network plus the Cake Poker Network is going to be growing throughout 2010 with the addition of some new poker rooms. A few of the other poker rooms on the Merge Gaming Network that Sportsbook.com and PlayersOnly will be joining include Carbon Poker, Reefer Poker and Aced Poker. If you currently play with one of these two poker rooms already then you’re going to need to sign-up for a new account once they move to the new network.

If you’re looking to play with a poker room that also has an in-house sportsbook then these are both your best options. I would wait until the poker rooms switch networks at this point if you haven’t already signed up for them, but once they handle the move you should definitely check them out.
