David Wintersberger Leading 2010 EPT Snowfest Main Event after Day 1A

The 2010 PokerStars EPT Snowfest Main Event started today and I’m pleased to say that day 1a was great. When it was all said and done today there were 270 players that made it out for the event. The remaining of the players in the event will be playing tomorrow and it’s expected that the event should pass the 500-player mark. Out of the players that started the event today, only 129 of them made it through to day 2.

David Wintersberger amassed just under 300K in chips on day 1a and is sitting in the lead right now. Another players that made some noise today was Julien Brecard who is a sponsored PokerStars player. It was his birthday today and he must have wished for a good day on the felt because he is sitting in third place at the end of the day. Julien will now just need to finish off his great start with another four days of good poker. Consistency is the most important thing in tournament poker and it stops most poker players from ever having success.

The top of the leaderboard is full of great poker players and day 2 is definitely going to be filled with fireworks. Alex Kravchenko, Daniel Negreanu, Arnaud Mattern and Jesper Hougaard all made it through the day. The majority of the players to play on day 1a were either sponsored or pro PokerStars players. Tomorrow we should see a lot more players from PokerStars out on the felt, but a few more locals as well. I also think that there should be more pros in the field tomorrow and it should be an interesting day of poker.

We’ve gone a little while without any live poker events so it’s good to have some action going again. This event didn’t bring out the best players, but there are still some heavyweights including Negreanu in the playing field.
