Kevin Macphee Holds Lead in Berlin after Three Days

Both day two and day three are now finished at the 2010 EPT Berlin Main Event. With 484 players coming back on day two we knew that there were going to be a lot of eliminations over the course of the day and we were right. By the end of the day there were only 124 players left in the event which even surprised me a little bit. They only played seven levels of poker yesterday so I didn’t expect them to end up eliminating over 350 players.

Stefan Huber was leading the way at the end of day two, but there were quite a few good European players left in the event which was good to see. A lot of the talent in the tournament was knocked out though on what we’d like to call a wild day two in Berlin. Day three was played today and finished only a few hours ago. Out of the remaining 124 players only 24 made it through the day and will be back tomorrow for day four.

Huber started the day in the lead and often that can prove to not be the best thing it seems lately, but he ended up having a good day and maintaining pace with the leaders. He isn’t in the lead anymore as Kevin Macphee was stacking up chips most of the day and took over the lead. The remaining 24 players in the event aren’t really well known although there are a couple sponsored Poker Stars players in the hunt tomorrow.

There are currently 12 players at the top of the leaderboard right now that are separated by only 1.3 million chips. There are going to be a few heartbreaking moments tomorrow as the tournament winds down and the final table is set.
