Koen Berendsen Owns The Day 1B Chip Lead at the 2010 Snowfest Main Event

The playing field today for day 1b at the 2010 EPT Snowfest Main Event was just shy of 300 players. About 130 poker players are still in the running at the end of day 1b and they will be here tomorrow for day 2. There will be about 300 players back in the poker room for day 2 tomorrow so I’m expecting a lot of eliminations. Just like the first instalment of day 1, the second instalment featured a good list of pro poker players. It’s always good to see pros showing up to these smaller events as it gives them more attention for the following year.

Koen Berendsen led all other players at the end of day 1b, but he wasn’t even close to the chip leaders from day 1a. The action was clearly more spread out today and there weren’t just a couple players winning all of the chips. Koen is still in good shape, but he won’t be starting day 2 in the top three even though he won day 1b. Lex Veldhuis had a good day at the felt as well and will be near the top of the leaderboard tomorrow, so we’ll need to keep an eye out for him. Luca Pagano is in the middle of the pack, but he made it through day 1 and still has a great chance.

As always with so many players in the field there were some eliminations including some big names. Evelyn Ng and Bertrand Grospellier were the two biggest names knocked out of the tournament today. Evelyn was actually having a fairly good day, but was eliminated near the end before the chips were bagged. Dario Minieri and Pieter de Korver also made appearances today for the event, but there days were short lived as well as they were sent packing. All in all it was a good day of poker that lasted a very long time today due to the large playing field again.
