Jordan Morgan Leading the Way at the 2010 NAPT Mohegan Sun

Over the past two days the 2010 NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event has been running and we have lots of big name poker players in the house for the tournament. I was actually a little surprised to see so many big names in the event, but I suppose they want to support the NAPT as best they can so that it can continue to get better every year. In all a total of 716 players made it out to the event on the first day, but that number was narrowed down drastically to about 450 players by the end of the day.

David Williams was actually leading after the first day of action and that was good to see. Some of the players that didn’t have any luck on the first day include Tom Dwan, Barry Greenstein and Joe Cada. All three players never found their footing in the event and it wasn’t long before all three of them made their exits. The second day also had some big causalities including both Daniel Negreanu and Gavin Smith who are both very well known throughout the poker world and especially in Canada.

Although there were a lot of eliminations over the first two days there are still 125 players coming back for day three tomorrow including some huge names. The chip leader is Jordan Morgan who isn’t a big name in poker, but he’s being followed closely by some of the best pros in the game right now. Sorel Mizzi, Phil Ivey, David Williams, Paul Wasicka, Vanessa Rousso and Dennis Phillips are all still pushing to make an appearance on the final table. Ivey is already in 10th place so he doesn’t need to do much more to get to the final table, but that doesn’t mean day 3 and 4 are going to be easy.
