2011 WSOP Schedule Released - 58 Tournaments

You can start planning your trip to Las Vegas now since Harrah’s has just released the 2011 WSOP schedule. And this promises to be the biggest WSOP in history since 58 tournaments are on the agenda.

Once again, the $500 Casino Employees tourney will kick off the world’s largest poker event on May 31st. And fans won’t have to wait long after this for the most interesting tournament in the WSOP because Event #2 is the $25,000 heads-up tournament. With a maximum of 256 players, it’s a good bet that the prize pool will be worth $6,400,000, which would be the largest heads-up tournament ever!

Besides the $25k heads-up tournament, other notable changes include the addition of a $2,500 10-game tourney (Event #29) and a $5,000 6-max Pot-Limit Omaha tournament. One surprise in the scheduling is that the $25,000 6-max tourney won’t be back despite generating a $4,775,000 prize pool.

Besides the schedule, there were some changes in regards to the tournament structures too with hard stop times and late registration added. The hard stop times means that tournament days will end after the 10th blind level at 12:45am, or after the 8th blind level at 2:00am for tourneys starting after 5pm; last year, tournament days ended based on the amount of players left in the field, which made for some extra long days.

Late registration will be allowed for all tournaments - except for the Main Event - up to four blind levels of play (or until all seats have been filled).
