Everest Poker adds Four Team Members through Promotion

While most poker rooms add sponsored players after they’ve been involved in the game for years and have accumulated millions of dollars in tournament winnings, Everest Poker added its most recent team members through a promotion.

The promotion, which was called “Live the Dream,” started last year with 8,000 hopefuls. From these players, the search for 4 Team Everest pros was narrowed down to 200 players. The 200 players needed to demonstrate to Everest that they were worthy of a professional sponsorship through their live tournament play throughout the year. Eventually, Everest Poker signed 10 of the 200 players to a one-year sponsorship deal.

This week, Everest chose to sign four of these players to long-term deals. The four players are Javier “elflacokanu” Martinez, Tobias “tobestar11” Wagner, Koen “koendb” de Bakker, and Leonard “leoledingo” Truche.

The Spanish-born Martinez booked his place on Team Everest by cashing for over $191k last year with one Spanish Poker Tour victory, and a 90th place finish in the 2010 WSOP Main Event. Germany’s Tobias Wagner caught Everest’s eye after cashing in four major live events - three of which have come in 2011.

Koen de Bakker is a Dutch player who managed to cash for over $125k in 2010 with strong finishes in the WSOP and Spanish Poker Tour. Truche is a French player who earned over $50,000 in the WSOP and European Poker Tour.

All four players will take part in their first event as Team Everest pros on April 21st; this is the $1 million Everest Poker One tournament.
