Jamie Gold
Current Residence: California
Birth Place: Missouri, USA
Born in: 1969
Summary:
Jamie Gold won the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event not only as a relative newcomer as far as the pros go, but also amid some controversy. Born in Missouri and relocating at a young age to New Jersey, Gold took up poker at a very young age (his mother is a very dedicated poker player herself). He didn't start to make a real career of it, however until 2005.
Up until this time his career efforts had been focused on the entertainment industry, where he worked as a talent scout with his own business. In 2005 Gold began playing career poker in earnest (at the urging of Johnny Chan with whom he was working on a television show), winning his first tournament in April with a $55,000 pot at the Bicycle Casino. His style of play earned him criticism from several players at the WSOP, but he stuck to it and walked away with the big prize. He now plans to split his time evenly between poker and his company, Buzznation.
Hobbies: President of production for Buzz Nation
Career Highlights: 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion
WSOP Bracelets: 1
