Phil Ivey
Current Residence: Las Vegas
Birth Place: California, USA
Born in: 1976
Summary:
Phil Ivey is perhaps one of the quietest poker players on the professional circuit, although he can be found in more games than most others. Ivey began his career as a poker player in the late '90s after honing his skills at his telemarketing job in New Jersey and then leaving for the big time.
He made his entrance onto the scene in a big way, and at a very young age; at the 2002 WO, at the age of 26, he won a total of three bracelets. Ivey is also one of the most prolific players in the game as far as high profile events go; he participates regularly on the World Poker Tour, the European Poker Tour, and the European Masters as well as other tournaments.
Oddly enough, Ivey has said that he will focus more on cash games in the future rather than tournaments; he backed this up by taking on mathematician and Texas billionaire Andy Beal and beating him to the tune of $16 million (prior to this, Beal had won $10 million from other star poker players).
Hobbies: video games, prop betting, basketball, golf
Career Highlights: 2005 Monte Carlo Millions champion, bracelets in WSOP Pot Limit Omaha from 200-2005
WSOP Bracelets: 5
Playing Poker at: Full Tilt Poker
