World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP)

Almost every poker enthusiast has this want to join and compete in a tournament bigger than what your local casino can offer. Sadly, not all poker enthusiasts have enough time or money to fight their way through a horde of poker players or buy themselves a comfy but pricey seat into the WSOP Main Event. But that is before 2002. Today, pros and amateurs alike can play and win in multimillion tournament series in their pajamas with the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).

What is WCOOP?

World Championship of Online Poker or WCOOP is one of the largest and grandest series of poker tournament held online or offline. Just like the World Series of Poker, people from all over the world switch on their computer, log-in to their accounts, and grab their chance to fortune and prestige in the poker gaming world. Unlike the WSOP though, any player can become a champion without donning their poker faces in front of the TV cameras.

From nine tournament events that lasted for about a week in 2002, WCOOP has blasted its way through the gambling mainstream arena with 33 events. This events spans through several popular poker games like Seven-Card Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw, Heads-Up, Razz, H.O.R.S.E., Omaha Hold’Em, and Texas Hold’Em in Mixed Event, Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit categories.

WCOOP is big, be it in online or brick-and-mortar standards. WCOOP constitutes some $10 million worth of guaranteed prizes in its Main Event alone and some $30 million dollars guaranteed prizes for all 33 events. For this year alone, more than 22,000 unique players from some 119 countries have made almost $56,000 buy-ins into WCOOP events. This brought the total prize money up by almost ten million dollars to more than $39.96 million dollars.

Joining WCOOP

Joining the biggest poker tournament online is simple and flexible. You have two ways to enter. You can either fight your way through other poker players or you can buy your way in.

WCOOP allows promising PokerStars players to join without shelling out much, and you can do so by entering WCOOP satellite tournaments online, either by paying for the entry fee or by just using Frequent Player Point Freerolls, which players can earn by playing in PokerStars with real money accounts.
